Hi my name is Shannon Davis I'm a special ed resource teacher at Hodson Elementary and I've been in Owasso Public Schools for 11 years I graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a bachelor's degree in special education and after graduating I taught for nine years in a neighboring School District in special education and then I took a little break from teaching in public schools and during that time I decided to get my Early Childhood certification so when I was hired at Hodson 11 years ago I spent the first five years teaching kindergarten before transitioning to my role as a resource teacher one of my favorite things about teaching is the funny things that kids say I wish I'd written down all the funny little quotes over the years there just so adorable and have this innocent joy and I love that another thing I enjoy teaching is the challenge and whether it's a challenge with reading or motivation or trying to change a behavior I really have to think outside the box sometimes to find a solution and so that makes it so much more rewarding when the goal is accomplished Miss Davis is one of the most compassionate kind and patient teachers I've ever encountered she can take kiddos that struggle with behaviors academics and she works with them daily in their own specific ways in order to ensure their success she is a phenominal educator and Hodson is a great place because of her so the best part about my job is that I get to have some of my students for two three sometimes four years so I really get to see change and progress during that time the day-to-day progress can be slow at times but when I get to look back two or three years to see the growth that they've made it's so rewarding I've met and worked with so many passionate and supportive teachers and administrators that really work together to create the best possible learning environment for students I'm Shannon Davis and I'm an Owasso Ram!
