My name is Kylie Easterwood. I teach third grade at Hodson Elementary. This is my seventh year here and I have been teaching for 10 years. Some of my favorite things about teaching are the relationships with my students. Every day I greet them at the door and I hear the fun stories of things that have happened the night before. Basketball practice, times with their siblings. It's just a way for me to connect with my students and learn more about them. Another favorite thing of teaching is the people that I work with I have the most incredible 3rd grade team and the team at Hodson as a whole. Our Administration, teachers, and staff all work together to support and encourage our students. I think some qualities that make an outstanding teacher are one that is caring and supportive. It is important to me in my classroom to create a culture that is safe, a culture where students feel that they can make mistakes but they can try new things where they can learn and grow so that they can become productive members not only in our classroom but in society. It is a privilege to be an educator at Owasso Public Schools as a teacher I feel valued and supported in the school system. I believe with the administration and the community support it allows students and teachers to be successful. Owasso is like a family. From the moment that I walked in the door to start teaching I had colleagues helping me families and parents were coming in and helping the support all of my years that I've been in Owasso has been outstanding.
