Pre-K Class Information

Mrs. Rake’s Big Day in Pre-K

Pre-K Class Times

AM: 9:00 to 11:30           PM: 1:15 to 3:40

Behavior

Children are expected to do their best, use good manners, use their words to solve problems, follow procedures, and treat others as they would like to be treated.  Poor choices will result in logical consequences and may require removal from an activity. Anyone can have a bad day, but if problems persist, parents will be contacted to discuss a plan for improvement.

Folders and Money

Because of limited storage, Pre-K will not use backpacks. Check your child’s envelope folder daily for important notes. Place any money in a labeled envelope indicating how it is to be used.

Belongings and Shoes

Please send a set of clothes in a Ziplock bag to be kept at school in case of an accident. Label all belongings including jackets. Students should wear a closed toe shoe so they can participate easily in all activities. Velcro closures are a good option.

Birthdays

It is against school policy to serve snacks to celebrate birthdays. We recognize birthdays with the birthday song and a special class coupon.

Supply Donations

Many supplies are required in Pre-K. I will send out a supply donation request sign-up via email. Donations are appreciated but completely optional.

Snacks and Water

Pre-K does not serve a snack. Please have your child eat before coming to school. AM students may eat breakfast at school.

We provide water for the students in disposable cups. This is much easier than carrying a water bottle. However, children can bring a labeled spill proof water bottle if preferred.

AM Arrival Procedures

Pre-K car riders should be dropped off in the car loop on the southwest side of the school beginning at 8:45. Pre-K parents should pull down to the orange cones to drop off their child so that Pre-K students can enter through the gym. Pre-K children do not go directly to class but wait in the gym with the assistant until 9:00 am. Siblings can be dropped off in the same location but will enter the school through the cafeteria. Children arriving later than 9:00 will check in at the office. Bus transportation to school is provided for the morning session.

PM Arrival Procedures

A teacher will begin unloading children from cars for the afternoon session at 1:05 at the main doors on the north side of the building. Children do not need to arrive before 1:05 to reduce their wait time in the car. Students arriving after 1:15 will need to check in at the office. Bus transportation to school is not provided for the afternoon class.

Dismissal Procedures

Car riders should be picked up at the main doors on the north side of the building at 11:30 for the morning class and 3:40 for the afternoon class. The car tags provided by the school must be displayed in the car window to pick up your child.

To pick up your child, pull up to the doors at the front entrance and wait for the teacher to load your child. Train your child to buckle their own seatbelt or pull out of the line to park and buckle your child so that the teacher can continue to load students. Please be mindful of the cars behind you. If you notice that other cars are blocking the road, pull further down the sidewalk past the main doors and the teacher will bring your child to you. If no cars are blocking the road, stopping at the front doors facilitates loading.

The siblings of students in the afternoon class may be picked up at the front entrance as well. Please send me an email listing the siblings’ name, grade, and teacher’s name. Send an email to the siblings’ teachers asking that they be sent to meet their Pre-K sibling in the cafeteria for dismissal from the main foyer. We request your patience the first few days of school as we develop and streamline our dismissal procedures.

Transportation home by bus is only provided for the afternoon session.

If your child’s method of pick-up changes, please send a note to school or call the office.
